The global EDM powerhouse whose responsible for supplying us with the inescapable “Levels,” “Wake Me Up” and “Hey Brother” all the way back in 2013. Well he’s back and sounding better than ever with his first music output since the release of his 2015 album, Stories.
Yupp, after over a year hiatus from the electronic music scene, the 27-year-old DJ-producer has returned with a brand new offering: A 6-track EP titled Avīci (01). “I’m really excited to be back with music once again, it has been a long time since I released anything and a long time since I was this excited over new music!,” Avicii said in a statement. “My focus on this first EP of the album was to get a mix of new and old songs, some that fans have been asking about/waiting for mixed with brand new songs that they haven’t heard before!”
The EP is an easy and enjoyable play that keeps moving from track to track, never skipping a beat, but there are two songs that are true highlights — and they’re the euphoric Rita Ora-lead “Lonely Together” and “What Would I Change It To” with AlunaGeorge, which brings back Avicii‘s love for infusing an infectious folkiness to his upbeat progressive style.
