IN CASE YOU WERE UNAWARE: I am very much a fan Dua Lipa, rising Princess of Pop.
Last month, the talented English beauty finally released her self-titled album – and to no one’s surprise, it truly delivered. The 17-track collection is the very essence of pop at its finest: Strong songcraft, powerful melodies, infectious vocals and even bigger choruses, from the unstoppable “Be The One” to the thoroughly brilliant “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” to the Chris Martin-assisted “Homesick,” which basically plays out like a signature Coldplay ballad except she’s singing it. Dua is the damn thing, period.
Dua drops the official music video for her next single “New Rules,” an obvious favorite, this week – and it’s easily her best visual yet.
The clip, which was shot in Miami and directed by Henry Schofield (“Lost In Your Light“), sees Dua seeking out help from her crew of diverse lady friends to get over a break up. What seems like a normal girls’ night out quickly turns into a very uniquely executed dance routine spread throughout the rooms, the hallways, and pool area of The Confidante hotel, making for quite the visual treat. It’s a feminist concept, if you will, done in the most fun of ways – I ABSOLUTELY LIVE FOR IT!
