Liam Payne Solidifies Solo Stardom With Zedd On ‘Get Low’!

Zedd is no stranger to a high-profile pop collaboration, we know this from his many hits with Foxes (“Clarity“), Ariana Grande (“Break Free“), Selena Gomez (“I Want You to Know“), Hailee Steinfeld (“Starving“) and most recently Alessia Cara with “Stay,” which is currently still holding strong at #1 on Top 40 radio in the U.S.

To add to Zedd‘s growing collection of pop collaborations gone right, the 27-year-old German producer has gone ahead and enlisted One Direction‘s Liam Payne to take the lead on his official “Stay” follow-up: “Get Low“!

According to the press release, the duo met last year as Liam was beginning to plan his solo career. Zedd had been working on ‘Get Low‘ at that time and thought Liam would be perfect for it. Zedd and Liam then began working on the song together and as Zedd recalls, “Liam’s voice gave the song a lot of soul and really influenced the song a lot. I think it’s one of the catchiest songs I’ve ever written. It’s the soundtrack to my summer!!!”

The track is right on-trend with the tropical, dancehall-influenced sound that’s taken over the airwaves the past few years, but it at least follows a classic pop song structure in the sense that it doesn’t rely on a big beat drop to carry the chorus (imagine that): “Get low, get low/ Hands on your waist, let’s go/ Get low, get low/ Girl, you got the vibe, I’m up for the climb,” Liam croons on the genuinely infectious hook.

It’s hardly anything groundbreaking, but honestly, I’ll take anything to distract attention from Liam‘s painfully mediocre debut single “Strip That Down.”

“Get Low” by Zedd & Liam Payne is also available on Spotify and Apple Music!
