The Aces have been steadily revealing cuts from their upcoming debut EP, I Don’t Like Being Honest, single by single. So far, we’ve heard the ridiculously good leads “Stuck” and “Physical,” as well as last month’s soothing, soulful throwback “Baby Who” – quite possibly, my favorite one yet!
This week, the fierce foursome – sisters Cristal (vocals/guitar) and Alisa Ramirez (drums), Katie Henderson (guitarist) and McKenna Petty (bassist) – are back at it again with the next taste off of the forthcoming EP due out on June 23: “Touch,” a punchy emotional cut which sees their signature boisterous bassline being elevated as they chant their tune all about reuniting with an ex lover.
“You don’t have to say it say it/ If there’s something left I’ll take it/ I’m no stranger to your to-uh-ouch/ Visions running through me, through me/ living in my memory/ I’m no stranger to your touch, your to-uh-ouch,” Cristal sings across the crashing drums and heavy plucks of electo-gutiar. I seriously can’t get enough, these girls have hooks for days!
“‘Touch‘ was one of the first songs we wrote for this EP and one of our favourites,” The Aces said in a statement. “You definitely get a taste of our garage band roots and our love for rock ‘n roll. Everybody knows what it’s like to run into an ex lover at a party and imagine what could happen.”
