Kelsea Ballerini Kicks Off Next Era With Soaring Love Ballad, ‘Legends’!

I haven’t properly written about Kelsea Ballerini yet, although I’ve been a low key stan ever since the release of her breakout single “Love Me Like You Mean It” from her successful 2015 debut The First Time. Since then, the 23-year-old singer-songstress has gone on to become the first female country artist to have three consecutive number one’s on the Country Airplay chart from her debut album – “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs” and “Peter Pan” – and even managed to score herself a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Pretty impressive for a newcomer, no?

This week, Kelsea ready to launch the next phase in her career with the release of “Legends,” the official lead single off of her upcoming as-of-yet-untitled sophomore album. The track – written and produced by her frequent collaborator Forest Glen Whitehead – is a soaring country-pop ballad all about looking back at a relationship that didn’t work out with a sense of peace and gratitude.

Yeah we were legends/ Loving you baby it was Heaven/ What everyone wondered we’d never question/ Close our eyes and took on the world together/ Do you remember?,” Kelsea sings on the nostalgic hook. “We were crazy/ Tragic and epic and so amazing/ I’ll always wear the crown that you gave me…” There’s no regret, bitterness or here, just a true mature understanding that the relationship was wonderful, but it needed to end.

It’s a bit of a safe start, but a solid kick off nonetheless that picks up right where she left off. Listen below!
