And then there were four…
It’s been a long journey and lots of drama leading up to this moment, but we’re here: The rebirth of Fifth Harmony!
Six months after five became four, and just two weeks after their former member Camila Cabello dropped her debut solo single “Crying In The Club,” the ladies – Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane and Normani Kordei – have arrived with their first taste of new material as a fabulous foursome: “Down” featuring Gucci Mane!
The breezy, summertime track — which was produced by Ammo, and co-written by Jude Demorest and Dallas Koehlke — plays like a blend of the island-lite sound that’s dominated the singles charts over the last year and, unsurprisingly, their very own global smash “Work From Home,” as they grind up against an array of finger snaps, hi-hats, and icy, hard-hitting dance beats. “Long as you’re holding me down, down, down/ I’m gon’ keep lovin’ you down, down, down/ Long as you’re holding me down, down, down/ I’m gon’ keep lovin’ you down, down, down/ I’m gon’ keep lovin’ you,” the girls chant on the infectious hook, which again, similarly mimics the melody of “Work From Home.”
Considering “Work From Home” is their biggest single to date, it’s not surprising the girls have chosen to pick up right where it left off. It’s hardly fresh and not quite on the same level as “Work From Home,” but it’s still undeniably fun – a solid bop that will inevitably be cemented into our brains all summer long. It should be very interesting to see what happens from here. What do you guys think?
