Filmed outside of Los Angeles, the 27-year-old hit-making producer and the 20-year-old “Scars to Your Beautiful” songstress play lovers in the tragic clip, directed by Tim Mattia.
The visual basically plays with the idea about how one small decision (or twist of fate) can have an impact on someone’s life. In this case, Alessia doesn’t stop an elevator for Zedd in one scenario. In the next, she does and romance blooms… leading to something tragic. It’s kind of fucked up, but it totally works in reference to the song’s lyrical theme.
“I’m so excited to share the ‘Stay’ music video with you! Alessia and I worked so hard on it and hope you love it as much as we do,” Zedd said in a statement.
