The xx Provide The Mellowest Touch On ‘Say Something Loving’ – Listen!

While I was away on vaca, The xx released a brand new track called “Say Something Loving” in celebration of the new year!

Say Something Loving” follows lead single “Hold On” off their forthcoming album, and it’s likely to be the last taste we get before I See You drops later this month on January 13.

The shimmering cut kicks off with a short sample of The Alessi Brothers‘ classic 1976 track “Do You Feel It,” before sparse synths and delicate guitar plucks come floating under the beautifully harmonized vocals of Romy Madley-Croft and Oliver Sim. The production finds Jamie xx as his mellowest, as the strumming synth that drives the track never really reaches a climax, fitting the tempo and the overall vibe of the song perfectly.

The xx have yet to disappoint with any of their outputs, so while it is doubtful that I See You will offer anything truly unexpected, we are nonetheless very much excited to listening to it in its full glory. What do you guys think?

The xx’s latest “Say Something Loving” is also available on Spotify and Apple Music!
