Many have fought for the title, but there can only be one Queen of Soundtracks…
And that is Sia, period. Over the last few years, the “Cheap Thrills” hit-maker has penned countless anthems for major blockbusters, from The Great Gatsby to Fifty Shades of Grey to Pitch Perfect 2 to San Andreas to Zootopia to The Neon Demon to Star Trek: Beyond to last month’s most recent output, “Never Give Up” from Lion. If there is a soundtrack coming out, you can probably bet money that Sia WILL be on it.
This week, Sia drops off yet another soundtrack cut titled “Angel By The Wings” for the documentary The Eagle Huntress, which was executive produced and narrated by Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley. And like most of her soundtrack cuts, it’s musical-healing greatness all about being broken down, but rising above in spite of everything — a self-empowerment anthem, yes, with the same kind of sincerity you’d come to expect to come from a Sia number. DUH.
“Take an angel by the wings/ Beg her now for anything/ Beg her now for one more day/ Take an angel by the wings/ Time to tell her everything/ Ask her for the strength to stay,” Sia pleads over simple piano melodies before the cinematic strings and crashing drums come surging in on the Greg Kurstin production. From there, it’s just a soaring mess of heaven-sent belting all the way to the finish: “You can, you can/ Do anything, anything.”
Consider yourself HEALED!
