With only three weeks left to go until Glory Days drops on November 18, Little Mix are continuing with their promise to deliver us some fresh new tunage from the LP on a weekly basis.
Between their smasher of a first single “Shout Out to My Ex” and the Meghan Trainor-penned “You Gotta Not,” the ladies – Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall – have already given us plenty of reason to believe that the upcoming fourth studio album will be even better than last year’s Get Weird. CASE IN POINT: This week’s new cut “F.U.” is a true stunner, a Motown-influnced pop dream that explores a love-hate relationship with an irresistible lover.
“You’re dirty, disgusting/ But I can’t get enough of your loving/ Boy I hate you, really hate you/ My momma said I shouldn’t date you/ You cheatin’, you lyin’/ I know that you’re hiding two cellphones,” the girls admit on the pre-chorus before launching into the shimmering, harmony-filled hook: “You sweet talk me again, yo/ I don’t wanna be friends, no/ Why am I such a fool when it comes to you?/ A, B, C, D, E-E-eee, F.U.“
It’s kind of like the sophisticated older sister to their very own “Love Me Like You,” but with a more mature, vocal-showcasing approach – A WIN!
