The last time we wrote about talented British multi-hyphenate (singer-songwriter-producer) Leo Kalyan was exactly one month ago, when we spotlighted his “Daydream” video. Well, Leo is BACK with another synthful stunner, as well as a new EP announcement! Long overdue if you ask us.
London-based Leo Kalyan surprise-dropped a new song, “Silhouette” last Friday over on Pigeons & Planes; simultaneously unveiling the artwork for his new EP, Outside In, due October 28th via NYC-based “experimental pop label” Godmode. The first notes of “Silhouette” materialize like a shimmering mirage in a desert of dusty electronic crackles, before a hypnotic Indian melody welcomes in Kalyan’s feather-light vocals and trademark electronic r&b grooves. While his training in Indian Classical singing is evident in some past releases—most notably “Lean On & On,” a mashup of Erykah Badu’s “On & On” and Major Lazer, DJ Snake and MØ’s chart smash “Lean On”—that style refreshingly takes center stage in “Silhouette.”
“Silhouette” is the first of 5 new tracks unveiled from Leo Kalyan’s upcoming Outside In EP. The EP is a breakthrough in Leo’s skills as a songwriter, offering listeners a revealing, raw and emotional look inside his own psyche. Serving as the follow-up to his 2015 Silver Linings EP, Outside In is more introspective than anything Leo has ever released before. Check out the artwork and tracklisting below. Outside In will be released October 28th.

FUN FACT: Listen for Leo’s friend and fellow multi-hyphenate, MNEK, who contributed backing vocals on the track when they recorded the song at Kalyan’s home in Hackney.
