It’s no secret that I love me an all-female anything. There is just something about a group of fierce ladies standing together that takes me to a higher place, but I think we can all agree that when it comes to female fronted rock bands, there’s a major shortage in the mainstream.
Which is why I am quite excited to introduce to you today The Aces, an all-female rock quartet from Utah – consisting of Cristal Ramirez, McKenna Petty, Katie Henderson and Alisa Ramirez – who’s debut single, “Stuck,” is one of the more perfect debut songs I’ve ever heard.
“I’m stuck, baby/ Stuck with nowhere to go/ Because, baby, the switches taking it slow/ It’s overdone, make your move/ Stuck, baby/ Stuck with nowhere to go,” the girls chant over a pop-rock swirl of warm sun-soaked beats, disco bass plucks, crashing drums and addictive echoing melodies. It’s heartbreaking and upbeat and nostalgic and windows-down-hands-in-the-air-inducing; a song so breezy and dreamy that when it plays, you can’t help but bop around—at least for a moment. I honestly can’t get enough of it.
In brief: They’re beautiful, stylish and “Stuck” is truly to die for. What’s not to love?!?
