Little Mix Premiere New ‘Get Weird’ Cuts: ‘Weird People’ & ‘Lightning’!

Little Mix deliver the goods once again! Following the release of their prom-themed “Love Me Like You” music video, the UK foursome are already back at it with even more fierce pop cuts from their anticipated third studio album, Get Weird.

This week, the girls – Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall – drop not one, but two new tracks from their upcoming LP (out November 6): “Weird People” and “Lightning“!

The first song “Weird People,” is a feisty power-pop anthem packed with a infectious ’80’s gloss, filled with hand clapping, foot stomping shout-along attitude (“HEY!”), sweet harmonies and summery guitar licks — not entirely unlike their addictive lead single “Black Magic.” That “weird people (let’s get weird)” hook alone is a major earworm — resulting in some rather thrilling musical medicine for anyone needing a pick-me-up.

And then there’s “Lightning,” a slightly more mature, experimental affair as far as production is concerned. The bass-heavy cut, which brings their very own “DNA” to mind, sees the powerhouse vocalists getting lost in some deep lust above a sparse electro-R&B production. “Oh lightning strikes twice/ And it burns like ice/ I wish I didn’t love you again/ Oh lightning strikes twice/ And it burns so nice/ I wish I didn’t love you (But I do),” the girls cry out as the track suddenly dives into a thrilling, thunderous beat breakdown of glitchy vocals and frantic electronic beats. Easily an early favorite already. The drama. The vocals. That beat breakdwon. EVERYTHING!
